Anyone know what might be the answer to the following problems with my 98/R reg 1.6 Felicia Hatch?

1. Sometimes on startup, a whirring noise occurs for 10 / 15 seconds, sometimes reving the engine solves it. Doesn't seem to effect power steering (turning the wheel doesn't seem any different)

2. Going down hill from my house - v step slope, and engine running below 2000rpm only, there is a rattle (tinkling rattle), only happens when clutch is engaged - not the clutch plate, its makes a different noise to that one!

3. I noticed someone else has posted about the knocking noise which occasionally occurs on bends - and bumps, how long is it ok to drive with a dodgy ball joint?

1. Sounds like the starter motor is sticking

2. Probably the gearbox bearings, maybe the box is low on oil and the steep slope is letting all the oil there is to the front of the box.

3. Not long at all, if it goes completely the suspension will collapse!

1) might be the carbon filter solenoid valve

2) :iagree: gearbox bearings.. or the diff

3) get it fixed soon as
