Boot release on vRS....wierd

Featured Replies

Ok, you guys may be able to clear this up for me.

Does the vRS have some kind of ant hi-jack thing on the boot release because when I arrive at my mates house to collect him for work, he can't open the boot to put his stuff in it. All the doors are unlocked at this time.

I've tried pressing the unlock button on the drivers door and locking and unlocking the car again using the same interior buttons but the thing still wont open. The only way to get it to do it is to take the key out of the ignition and use the button on the fob or lock and unlock the car again using the fob.

It's almost like when the car has moved any distance and the key is still in the ignition the boot release is disabled to stop people getting in it? Works fine with the engine running before I set off anywhere but as soon as I arrive people can't open it without me taking the key out of the ignition.

Thanks,

Chris.

What happens if you open and then close the drivers door?

Hmmm.....not tried that. After reading a few other threads it appears it's meant to lock after setting off but it's how I get it to unlock which is the problem. :D

Mine doesn't lock after setting off. Sounds more like a fault to me (or a feature which is not standard but has been enabled on your car).

I think it has to be related to the anti hijack thing the car can do. The boot works fine and dandy until you set off and then it seems to disable the rear button on the boot lid. Trouble is, I need a sure fire way of enabling it again without having to get out and fanny around with the fob/ locks.

I'm sure all i have to do is to press the unlock button on the drivers door and all doors and boot are unlocked.

mine does the same

open the drivers door with the engine running and it will unlock the boot.

Aha! Excellent, that's what I wanted to know. Many thanks mate.

Chris.

I had to switch of my engine in order to open my boot. So some of you are lucky!

this is correct :)

the boot locks when you move off and automaticaly unlucks when you open either of the front doors. i think

I think my Fabia used to have a boot open switch (with the fuel cap opening one)? Saved me opening doors, anyway ;)

Chris

Hi, Last two fabia elegances had a boot release by the fuel release lever.

Vrs and newer fabia's dont have boot release ..........pain in the neck.....have to take out key too to open boot..........one wonders why Skoda is so penny pinching.
