I've just bought new brake pads for my late 98 Felicia. The old pads had a thin metal plate loosley fitted to the back of each pad but these are not shown in my Haynes? Please could someone advise whether these should be fitted to the new pads on installation?

They shouldnt, its a plate the reduces brake whining, but these are mostly glued on the new pads.

Original Skoda/Vw pads have them glued to the pads.

So just threw them in the bin.
