do these alloy wheels require spacers?

Featured Replies

Hubby has bought a Felicia 1.9gli d, R reg, white, as a runabout to get him to work and back, when he gets his works van taken off him:thumbdwn: any way it's a great little car, even I've had a go in it.... we got some alloy wheels for it (not brand new) which looked really good on the car 'til we drove off in it ....eeek:eek: what was that grinding noise???????? apparently it's the front alloys catching the track rod ends (or the other way round) the back wheels are fine. So do we need a couple of spacers, or.... something??

the alloys are 13" pcd 4x100 and the offset 43, Rim width 5.5J Where did we go wrong??

Help would be muchly appreciated

Thank you:)

Deleted - i was speaking rubbish :o

any wheel with the dimensions you've listed should be ok:O iirc the offset should be 35mm but for a wheel of that width but to be honest that much different shouldn't cause you problems..... are you sure there isn't the track rod end itself making the noise??

we have put the steel wheels back on for now and there isn't any problems?? The inside of the alloys have got marks on where something has been catching?

I've aquired some skoda alloys for my Felicia. It says on them 5Jx13H2, PCD100, ET36........It also says AMZ and 8SD ( don't know what they mean though )...........Hope this helps on the size required..........Andy

5Jx13H2, PCD100, ET36........ don't know what they mean though

5J is the width of the wheel in inches 13 is the diameter of the rim in inches

PCD100 is the pitch circle diameter, what this is, if you draw a circle from the dead centre of the wheel with a 50mm radius(half of 100) the centres of the bolts are on that imaginary line.

ET36 is the offset, this distance between the rear face of the mounting surface of the wheel and the centre of the width of the rim.... if that makes any sense:rolleyes:

it whould be also noted that as the width of the wheel increases the offset needs to increase as well:)

et43 is too high - prob a vauxhall offset.

run some 10mm hubcentric spacers and all will be fine.

Thanks for that Tom.......The bit I didn't know about was the AMZ and 8SD...Proberly nothing Important

iirc the 8sd bit refers to the material that the wheel is made from

also where you have 5Jx13H2.... the H2 bit tells you the radius/shape of the mounting lip where the tyre sits......

:) Intresting.....More to a wheel than you think.........:)
