Jacking up the Fabia

Featured Replies

Hi all,

If I wanted to jack up the Fabia, preferably using my trolley jack, is there an ideal place to do it? The scissor jack is a bit feeble to use unless in an emergency, and the sill seems a bit flimsy for the trolley jack. I've had jacking points fold on me before on other cars and so I'd like for that not to happen this time! :D

Thanks in advance,

Chris.

Front or rear?

Chris

I use the jacking point on the sill (Arrowed IIRC) and then a soft ish bit of wood on top of the trolley jack.

Front - Rear of subframe.

Rear - beam axle somewhere near bushes will do.

Are the jacking points actually up to the job or are suspension/ subframe components preferable? My Xantia's front jacking point folding on me with just a scissor jack still haunts me. Poxy car.....made with old baked bean tins.

Snap.... I do exactly the same without any bother

They've never failed on me yet and I've jacked a few Skoda's up in my time. If you look you'll see the sill seam is slightly thicker here.

If you are really worried, just find the Audi TT jacking point protector things - I can give you numbers if you need them, you just remove four plastic "floor" plugs fit in the two piece rubber bits and that's it - works really well on the smaller (diy) sort of trolley jacks.
