Recognise this dash?

Featured Replies

that's odd, the CitiGolf used to have a 6N2 Polo dash

and the Lupo 3L wheel is tasty!

It's had a furby dash for quite a while now.

I saw one of these by me last year and it confused the hell out of me as I couldn't figure out what an old golf was doing on a 52 plate

looking at the specs it looks liek a fairly nippy car too

Ahh, I remember them well! But before the dashboard change.

They are very popular in SA, and I think depending on spec, it was one of the cheapest cars you could get there (Chico?). My cousin had a '97 CTi in metallic green, but he shoehorned a nicely tweaked 2.0l into the engine bay... Don't remember the specs but it used to shift like you wouldn't believe! :D I would still love one.

I love those shape golfs.

works out at about

Its a shame they don't still make a 3 door.

Its had the Fabia dash for atleast 2 years now. I remember making enquiries about the silver air vents it has as a potential group buy for the Fabia, but it fell flat on its face :(

i posted about this some months back......

Yeah, a number of forums seem to be digging it up at the moment for some reason!??

Still, worth a repost for those that haven't seen it :) I'm after getting a T2 imported from Brazil =)

Been posted on here, several times before. I can tell its the citi golf before even clicking on the link.

i love that shaped golf ive always thought it would be cool to have a old shaped car but with up to date interior i want one! why did vw make this?

I dont know why VW made this, but what it does show is how much bigger cars are now compared to that version of the golf. If the Fabia dash fits inside the golf, then the outgoing fabia must be about the same size as the golf was back then. I dread to think how small the Polo was.

Not sure about warranty. Sourced in Europe you get a pan-European warranty (may not be 3 yrs though) but sourced further afield I'm not sure...

Johannesburg is nearly 6000ft above sea-level, so it saps a bit of the power though!

if you seriously wanted one of these how would you go about doing it? would you go to the local stealers and ask about it or what?

If you realistically wanted one I'd speak to an importer, like Motorpoint.

Hmm, Obscure VW models?

Venezuela has the Gol / Parati

Volkswagen Venezuela

The Gol looks to be based on the Ibiza Mk2, just beefed up a bit.

The Paraty looks like a Polo Variant... So both from mid 90s...

Ooooh, I see a side benefit here.

Mk2 Golf (essentially) - Fabia dash fits in. Ibiza Cupra 1.8T is the same as a Fabia more or less. Ibiza Cupra complete transplant into a Mk2 Golf! Dash and all!

id rather have the city golf than the vw fox.a step backwards from the cute lupo

was just about to post that link!

that is so not fair. I bet they'd sell more of them in this country :D

They've always been in very strong demand there so it makes sense for VW to keep making them. Especially as car prices are ridiculous out there for the average South African. The Citi becomes an affordable option for a lot of people..

Whenever SA is on TV for whatever reason, there's probably an 80% change you'll see a Citi Golf in the background. They're everywhere there. :)

I think I've seen a few on autotrader, worth looking out for.

I bought a new Golf GTI Mk1 in 1981 from Germany - a personal import that cost me about

been doing some research on the citi golf r-line and there was only 100 built so chances of getting 1 of them is slim to none! i so want 1:D
