VRS Gearbox

Featured Replies

Hey guys, Can anyone help me out, ive had my vrs since december (56 plate) and recently when either parking (shifting between reverse and first a few times) it becomes near impossible to get it into a gear, it just kinda locks up. It has also happened reversing up my drive, when i stop at the top and try to put it into neutral it seems jammed in reverse, although it will come out, its just very stiff. Finaly, the other day was stuck in a trafic jam going onto the forth bridge, sitting there for about 10 mins, and after a while, sitting in first with the foot on the cluch, the car seems to be slowly creeping forward (Still with my foot right to the floor) and yes, the gearbox seems jammed and takes a bit of force to get it into neutral.

Has this happened to you, or do you know whats happening?

Every time this happens, simply switching the engine off and on again totally solves the problem.

sounds like a problem with the clutch master or slave cylinders , slowly leaking fluid passed the seals and losing pressure

or you could have a faulty clutch pressure plate or disc causing clutch drag

either way a trip to the dealers will be required

couldn't have said it better myself ;)

Hey guys, said i would update.

Just had a new "clutch kit" fitted under warrenty, just! Ive done 5700 miles and aparently clutch warrenty is up to 6000 miles. Anyway new ones in and works just fine.

Only problem was i spent

I'm glad you have got your car fixed. As far as I am concerned if you've had the clutch changed under warranty and it required the tracking to be corrected then that expense should be bourne by the garage.

BROXBURN?

Any reason you did not use your local Dunfermline dealer?

I am guilty too though, Dunfermline nearest but I work in Dundee, so have to go to work and leave it with the Dundee gang, good service just I would like to support my "Local" guys who are a subsidary of Broxburn

National aka Jimbo

Do not leave it with the Dundee gang you do not even want to know the stories I have heard about them. :thumbdwn:

I live in Dundee and work in Edinburgh, but bought the car from Thomson and Potter in Burrelton outside Coupar Angus, would not go near the Dundee Dealer.
