Never had a black car but have often noticed how much they show up any marks. White rover i had was probably the best colour to look after as is my sons. Believe siver may be similar however nothign can match the shine and depth of a good looking black car in my opinion. y car fabia and it's (oh dear) burnt orange

I agree wholeheartedly. Black what a pain. I still think it is the best colour when clean...but keeping it like that...that's another story:rolleyes:

Even when it doesn't move it gets dirty. I think a non-metalic is really the easiest, a flat colour such as white often looks good from my experience of the cars I have detailed but don't have the overall effect of a metalic paint.

The best I ever did was an old 1970's hotrod which had metal flake paintwork. Looked absolutely amazing once I had finished it. The next day he took it down long marston and crashed it........

Well, I am now on my 7th black car and would not have any other colour :)

It just looks so nice when clean :)

The lads at work always comment on how good it looks too.

I found this out yesterday, but it looked sooooo nice in the showroom :-(

I know you are one for detail but that does look very very good for a 20 month old car  . How and what do you use to keeping it looking so shiny and do you suffer from swirl marks like the rest of us?.

I've seen the car often Steve, and I don't think there's a scratch or swirl mark on it.

It really is in A1 condition, and it gets driven every day through Bradford to Leeds, with all the crap in the air.

Mind you, there must be 1/2" of Swissol on it.

Black is by far the best colour. Mine looks the buisness when clean, especially under the nice lights at the local fuel station. i nearly always get comments when filling up.

If you like cleaning cars buy a black on

Hiya mate,

the other thing i've noticed is how easy the black magic seems to get lightly scratched or is it just me?

One thing that may help though, and worth considering to stop the tree pollen etc, might be to use a car cover overnight, i know it wont stop the general grime through driving it, but it would be one less thing to p1ss you off ;)

I've really got to spend some time on mine now (i left bird carp on when i really should have cleaned it off straight away - it now has left a dreaded mark on the paint arggg)

Ive used Poorboys ssr2 etc (but without a machine polisher) and it wont budge the stain - any tips you detailing gods?

cheers

lee

Thanks for the compliments. Yes there are some swirls but they are easily removed with Meguiers Scratch X and finished off with Swissol Onyx Wax. The photo doesnt show the stone chips!!
