You should take a trip to the butterfly house in lancaster... some good shots to be had there :)

Reddish Vale Country Park is quite good

Ducks, squirrels, herons, lots of other birds

Used to kill an hour or two often whilst waiting on daughter playing netball at school just up the road. Also Small Animals Farm on the road down.

Yeah, once you find out how to alter things like shutter speed, iso, quality etc, its really simple, hold down the relevant button and twist a wheel. Theres alot to learn though and I haven't even scratched the surface yet!! Nikon are supposed to be the best for ergonomics and ease of use though

I did find it felt better than the equivalent Cannon :)
