octavia wiper problem sorted

Featured Replies

HI all

A tip if you have slow wipers, mine had started to go slow and stop on intermittent. Looking at the posts the problem was either the motor or the linkage. After stripping the motor linkage assembly out and cleaning greasing the linkage as described in other posts there was no improvement.

2nd attempt to fix it I removed the black cap off the motor. This gave me access to the brushes; I cleaned the commutater and gave the whole lot a squirt with WD 40. If I turned the linkage the motor would turn very easily so no problem with the linkage or gearbox. After reassembling and fitting it was back to normal no sticking on intermittent and they went like the clappers on fast!.

Saved myself

Useful extra tip there; cheers.
