Sunset (tinted) glass

Featured Replies

Does anybody know if this is a retro fit option, what it actually involves, what % tinit is offered, and how much it costs?

:)

Cheers,

Fabby.

I wouldn't think it were an official retrofit option. A good window tinter should be able to darken them a little for you.

Local company rated theres in a simple way for simple folk like me, light, medium, dark and limo (ridiculusly dark), so mine was medium.

Not sure on the percentage though although looks darker than stu's.

And, yup, done by a local company called "G-Force" in Middlesbrough

35% always looks bang on. Shame it's an MOT failure and a reason for plod to annoy you if it's on the front windows :( Your insurance may also be invalid due to the MOT status unless they agree to it specifically on your schedule.

I wouldnt mind some tint on the front of mine but dont fancy the hounding from the police that comes with it, nor the fact that it almost certainly will invalidate any insurance claim/policy. :(

Its not a MOT failure as no mot stations can test it, as for bother with the cops, because its just illegal, unless you are driving like a willy, you shouldnt have any bother

Mine are 50/35/20% front to back. (amount of light allowed through)

Never had any problems in the UK and here the regs say 30% all round and it's passed two WOFs (MOT equivalent)

Ahh, well no chance of me getting it done

Seriously tho, might consider it if the MOT cant pick it up, ta mate:thumbup:

i'd only go for the 30% (or 35%) on all windows other than the windscreen.

Otherwise it makes a perfectly good car look like a van.

Cheers,

Fabby.

Are you saying my car looks like a van? :D

This is mine, i think you call it moonraker but not sure, silver into blue ;)

oh and the tinter that did mine said anything at all on the fronts is now illegal, i havent had a single bit of troucble off S.Yorkshire police tho :)

Your tinter talks balls

Most Tinters will say tinting the fronts now is illegal because MOST new cars come with legal tint on them, so they cant do anything with them. (although all the peeps who have them done never have any problems getting what they asked for)

I'm getting my vrs done on wednesday with 20% all round, my last two cars had the same treatment, I have never been stopped by the five 0 because your not tinting the front windscreen :) obviously it lets in more light so it looks like you have made an effort in terms of getting lighter at the front.

Be warned though I dont do I lot of night driving thats when it is noticable, however you can still see in.

well in my opinion it certainly looks good did you just wash the car too I am impressed.

Not sure if that was aimed at me or not - but if it was yes i'd been out and washed polished and waxed, the cars change a little since then tho (rear wrc style spoiler) that pic was from last summer, just after i'd had the tints fitted (

Yep thats exactly what he in fact said! He obviously still obliged doing mine tho as you can see lol

I've not been stopped once, even seen the police of a night - still no probs
