Serves me right for not waiting :)

So that wiring loom will i really need the actual loom part? could I just connect the antenna power supply up to the amplified antenna output comming off the radio?

as I can swap the wires around on the new headunit for the permanent live problem?

You don't really need the loom but as you have it you may as well make it easy for yourself as it has the connector to power the antenna amplifier from the electrical antenna feed.

Might be worth ordering the Skoda facia part as it is the right colour and people report that it fits better.

Ah thanks for the advice just printed out the part number ill get one when i pick the car up tomorrow had a cheap fascia changer on the other car and it wasn't quite right and annoyed the crap out of me :)

All looks pretty straight forward

Thanks for the advice :)

I done the same when I got my furby. Bought the loom and facia off flea bay. I think the facia thing is the same as what I got though mate and mine fits ok, just put it on before the cage goes in for the radio

As for the radio keys, it depends on how nice your dealer is. Mine refused to sell me them for security reasons:confused: and even worse wanted to charge me

Ah Facia then cage! I always get that the wrong way around and usually have to yank the cage out i just spent the last 10 mins carefully bending into the car!.

Picking the car up at 2.00 today if they try to charge me

Really mate, do yourself a favour and get the Skoda fascia - it makes the install look so much better, and it won't rattle like the Autoleads one will.

You don't need the loom either - it will be a right pain trying to fit it in behind the head unit - its VERY VERY tight behind there. Just swap the permanant and ignition lives around on the loom that will come with your head unit, and your sorted!

I can get a refund on the facia i bought from ebay going to get a skoda one from the stealers :)

If i dont use the loom will i have a problem with that K wire/diagnostic wire? also would i just connect the aerial amp up to the power antenna output on the headunit?

Possibly, and if you listen to MW/FM radio you will need the adaptor. Getting access behind the HU is easy and this will enable you to organise the wires as you push the HU back in. You are after all fitting a single din HU into a double din hole so there is a lot of space. To access the wiring, simply prise out the airvents in the dash using a suitable implement. As you push the radio in, grasp the wiring and keep it above the HU as you push it in.

The reason I said to continue with the loom now you have it is that it looks to be wired for the electric aerial feed to power the external amp which is what you need. If you hadn't already bought it I would have said don't bother too. You can still get power to the amp without it but you'd need to purchase a connector from Skoda to push into the ISO plug and connect to the amp. Space is tight and whenever i've had to lose wiring for phone kits etc on Fabia i've used the space to the left of the radio between it and the glove box.

Serves me right for not waiting :)

Mike - I have a Fabia radio fascia strip here if you want it. PM me.
