Le Mans 07.

Featured Replies

Right "peeps" I'll start.

I've got a set of tickets spare, due to a plonker pulling out, (after he ordered tickets & before he paid)!

1 x Camping Masion Blanche

2 x General Entry

2 x Grandstand. Don't know the name of the stand as they seem to change it every year, but central start/finish straight, opposite the pits.

This ain't a highest bidder wins post. But !!!!

What would be nice ,,,, would be a Briskodan who is up for the krack ,,,, who can play the drums ,,,, in a live band ,,,, and perform on the Friday night ,,,, with the Drinking for Holland crew opposite us in MB. The normal "Flying Baguettes" band are short of a drummer!

Within our encampment we have ice making facilities, a fridge, a beer cooler and a 3kVA generator.

Now, who's game on ????

I can't drum, but I would love to meet the 'Drinking for Holland' crew ;)

I'm going, campsite near the Porsche Curves.

None of my group can play the drums though but i'm very intrigued as to how you are making Ice and what type of fridge you have that works with the very high ambient temperature.

Wrighty ,,,,,

I have a standard ice making machine (about the size of a large-ish Microwave).

We keep it out of the sun with plenty of ventilation, works fine after the inital 3rd batch. Then it's 24-7 untill the end of the race.

Works even better if someone can re-fill it & store the cubes in the night, beer takes it's toll, as we all know!

The fridge ain't a fridge, it's a bottle cooler, the type they use in a boozer. Works fine in a warm "Ale House", works fine at LM!

The secret is, open the door, take out a dozen or so & place in a coolbox, (3 bods needed here) ,,, 1 open door & remove bottles, pass to 2 who places items in cool box, whilst 3 re-stocks the empty spaces. Bit of a team effort, those who don't conform drink warm beer or remain sober!

It's all down to fine tuning mate, it only takes only one to ferk it up, :finger: to them!

Come and visit us.

Cheers buddy,

So where did you get the Ice maker from then?

I'm taking a cool box that keeps ice for up to 5 days, its good for the 1st 2 days of Le Mans but after that i've always struggled to get hold of ICE.

And the bottle cooler, where can you get hold of them?

How much do they cost?

Wrighty ,,,,

The ice maker was from ebay, had to get it re-charged with gas but works fine now.

Ice can be bought from the Carrefour (you'll have to get up early for this), I wouldn't use it in drinks but it's OK for cooling Tonic, Coke, ice boxes and the like.

Directions to Carrefour

From Maison Blanche side of the track. Follow the road up towards the main entrance (track on right hand side). At lights outside main entrance, go straight ahead going under the dual carriageway. About 50 yds after bridge turn first right into Avenue du Panorama. Continue to end and turn left at T junction. Follow road up and Carrefour and the Centre Commercial Sud is on the righthand side.

The bottle cooler was sourced by one of our lads, less than 100 squids, we had a whip round so it cost each one of us between 8 & 10 squids (IIRC).

Have a look on ebay, you never know.

Cheers buddy,

have been looking on ebay so will see what happens over the next few days.

See you there.

Roger mate.

From what I see on CA, we'll be nearer to the Porche Curves than we've lived for the past 12 years!

The advance party is going down "tooled-up" go claim "our spot"!

I can see the frogs standing back watching Brits v Brits battling it out all over the site!

We've always been zone B (CA map), zone D is the back of beyond !!!!

I was thinking of having a hair-cut before my departure to LM ,,,,, but the thought of a geeza charging into the opposition looking like a Viking warrior may be daunting to the offending foe!

Will be with a few peeps at maison blanche this year so if you see a black vrs octy that'll be me we are there from wednesday the 13th pop over for a bevvy!

I'm going with AirTrack and the fenced in campsite right behind the Porsche Curves.

I'm on a 2am ferry crossing on Thursday morning,so hopefully be there by 9-10am all set up by 11am.

We're all taking mountain bikes this year to make it easier and quicker to get around, especially Saturday going to Arnarge corner.

I'll keep an eye for you all.

Lads, we've an Ice Machine cool drinks will be served to Briskodians.

I wanna go!

Ah well, maybe in a few years I'll be able to afford a European holiday in June :D

Rob, just as well your down under. Got slapped with a 750

Ouch! Then again if I did over 140 here they'd take my licence off me on the spot and confiscate the car for 28 days!

Question though, was Le Mans worth it?

I hope yes, one year I'll go.

and secondly, did the fine work any better than say three points and 60 quid?

Serious reasons for asking :)

  • Author

Colin, Le Mans is always worth it mate.

Dunno yet about the outcome of the fine, they took my licence and told me it would be returned to the British authorities within 72 hours!

How I go about getting it back is unknown to me! Do I apply, do they automaticaly return it ,,,,, dunno?

The paperwork PC "Garlic" gave me states, I am banned from driving in France untill further notice????

If there were an option, I'd rather pay the squids than have the points, but that may lead to a situation whereby some people may be put at a disadvantage.

Had a knock on the door from Postman Pat on Saturday, he left a card stating that a signature was required !!!!!!

NOW ,,,,,,,,,,,, was this from PC Garlic France dot tosspots ,,,,, or DVLA.

Time will tell ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Just popped in here to ask if anyone goes to Le Mans, and I find threads devoted to each year! Great!

We didn't make it this year, but were in Beausejour in 2006 - the black deisel Astra with beer labels all over it!

Wanted to take the Octy this year, but work commitments would allow it :(

Maybe 2008...

Had a couple of postcards left by Postman Pat (while I was not at home) from my last post on this subject ,,,,,,,,

Received a letter yesterday that required a signature, Postman ***** (bless him) delivered it without the demand "Sign Here Sir"!

The 3 (A4) sheets were all in Garlic, without any English translation ,,,,, handy ????

Anyway ,,,, at the time (of "said" offence) I paid the Fine in Full on site (and have the receipt), and went on ,,, my very reduced speed ,,,, way home.

With my school boy French, I deduce they require another 22
