Morning!

Sorry I aint been around for a bit but, blimey aren't babies a real drain on your time!

I am posting this from Mitchel's Skoda near Chesire Oaks. Just waiting for them to have a look at that passenger door that seems to close badly....needs a really firm shove unlike the others and also for them to have a look at that 'hologram mark' in the passenger door paintwork.....supected cause over zealous use of a polishing machine before delivery. To be fair, Tom one of the service managers has found the photos I took and posted here and on 'Clean Your Car' in order to help sort the problem......let's see what happens!

Regarding the vRS itself.......I am delighted with it. Have now done about 1,100 miles and am starting to gently :) open it up a bit. It's just great, and realy shows me how dreadful the mark 4 Golf Gti was. The car is comfortable and road noise, even on 18s is fine for me. Practicality......the boot and rear seats are brilliant, giving me all the space I wanted. At this point I have no regrets at all. What a fantastic all rounder, just made for a small family.:D

Here is the question I wanted to ask:

My son is now 6 months old (Today in fact!). He really doesn't get on with the recent sunshine we have been getting, being very fair skinned and like me he will probably burn to a crisp at the merest suggestion of a heatwave. I have tried sunblinds from Tescos.....cheap and black, but only blocking part of the rear window and the rear sides My mate who is a Halfrauds manager has told me not to get his ones..... So I am considering genuine Skoda blinds which offer 'protection' for the rear window and both the sides. In the pics I have seen they look ok and seem ideal. However, the total cost would be just over 200 quid!! If they are good I don't mind spending the cash (or asking my dad to spend his cash) but Mitchels tell me they have never ordered them before so have no experience of how easy they are to fit or how good they are. They also told me that I would not be able to get my money back if I order them  .

Has anyone used these blinds? Do they do what they should, are they easy for me to fit and do they stay in place/have some durability??

My car is back.

Door adjusted......They have found the 'mark' in the paintwork.......Tom, who is not in today is going to ring me with their solution on Tuesday. I think I could sort the problem myself......but that isn't the point as I don't know exactly how to do it and would have to buy the stuff needed. Also, its a new car!

Hope someone can advise on the blinds and everyone is well.....

Many thanks,

M

I have the Skoda Rear Door and Rear Screen blinds fitted and they do provide a high degree of shading and privacy.

My dealer fitted them as part of my purchase negotiations so I have no first hand experience of fitting them myself but there are clips which fit permanently into the window channel and then the blinds simply spring under the clips - and can be sprung on and off if required. The windows can be opened with the blinds fitted but the blinds obviously reduce the airflow. The rear window blind is a roller blind so it is easy to raise and lower as required and does not affect opening the boot in any way.

Is the price you were quoted to include dealer fitting as the Skoda Accesssories Book shows the prices as - Side blinds

The rear blind on my L&K was standard so not sure if the one you can order is the same, but it sits in the rear parcel shelf, rolls out when needed and hooks onto two hook on the top inside of the tailgate. Works well and looks good. Only thing is you have to lower it for the auto dimming mirror to work but you would have to remove any blind you had up just the same.

Thanks Runboy and Octavia5 for your replies....much appreciated. They sound like the solution I need so I may well go for it.

Just regarding the door.....it still doesn't close properly and I think it is easy to appreciate this when it is compared to the other 3 doors on the car. I think I will be asking them to have another go at it!!!

Many thanks again,

M :)
