How do I break in my Octavia Tour's engine?

Featured Replies

Folks, maybe next two weeks arrives my octi here.

I looked on web that somo people says "drive it like stolen" and another says "drive it easy".

My question is How do I break in the 2.0 8V engine on my automatic trans. Octavia Tour?

Thanks

SV

Just drive it normally and avoid sitting at the same speed for too long , or driving it too hard in the first few hundred miles.

Dr Zoidberg thanks for your input, I readed on internet that every new/rebuild engine needs a good break in period for good overall performance and durability, what says the silver octavia manual?

Thanks again

SV

I thought new cars didnt need running in? the manual claims 1500kms???

This is one you won't find in the manuals as a rule, that I got from a neighbour who was the chief mechanic for the local Police back in the day, did car mechanics as a paying hobby, and tried to do himself out of a job by running car maintenance classes.

Take the car to a nearby town or city, and spend several hours (say half a day)driving around at town speeds. Take it home and change the oil and filter. Your car is now run (broken) in.
