1.4 MPI engines AZF, AQW & AZT whats the difference?

Featured Replies

Whats the difference between the engines (1.4 mpi), if I need a new engine does it have to be the same engine code?

Is the block and head the same for all engine codes?

Cheers,

Cheers VRStu, are there any more technical documents available?

My fabia has a AQW (Euro 3/4) and i have just bought (ebay) a new engine AME (Euro 2) will it be straight exchange?

I think (and i'm willing to be corrected) that the AME engine was installed in cars from 08/1999, and the AQW engine from 08/2000.

You'll be getting yourself an older engine than the one fitted previously.

AME, AQW, ATZ - are *variants* of the 1.4 68hp engine... its the variant part that worrys me... exactly which parts vary??? Still, with a decent mechanical mind, i'm sure you can make your car work.

My car was built in Jan 2000 , and has an ATZ 1.4 MPI engine....and no , I don't know the difference either!

Edited to say: Looking at the list above , the ATZ was 'mounted' (lol) between 08/99 and 01/01 and is an EU4 only engine for the Fabia.

Hi I have a Crack in the cylinder! Is there some way to get new? One or four? Skoda in Norway want 650 pound for four with pistons.

Just buy one new liner and seal plus one set of piston rings and have it honed to suit those new piston rings.
