Its easily possible that a more expensive model in the range in later life becomes lworth less than lesser varients of the same model.

We're perfectly aware of what it will or will not be worth by then.

Other posts on this forum suggest otherwise though...

I believe the 1.4 16v is usually regarded as a "better engine" than the 2.0 - similar performance, better economy (on paper), lower tax, lower insurance, etc. and less inclined to drink oil...

Then why does the selling price indicate the 2.0 is worth over

Didn't buy it new...got it used - nearly 3 years old. But as I stated, I'll be passing the car onto the missus once it's paid off and she can then bin her heap of a Peugeot and run what is effectively a free car (obviously apart from servicing and fuel costs etc).

I got a loan as I wanted a car to keep at the end of it, not an investment. It would be no use to me giving it back after so many years as she would still be sat with her heap of a Pug.

Unlike yourself, I don't work on the stock exchange etc and so I don't have that kind of

(luckily noone here has Fords or Vauxhalls as then it would be tragically worse!).

My glasses aren't rose-tinted, they're blacked out! Depreciation? Lalalalalalala!

Suspect the only reason it's more expensive on list (does anyone actually pay the list price anyway?) is that the pricelist has to look that way as traditionally large-engined vehicles cost more...

I didn't hand over extra dosh for a 2.0 Fabia just to keep a tradition going :(. But if I did assume that responsibility, I think it would be only fair for second hand purchasers to do the same ;).

 If only it worked like that...

In general though, larger engined cars don't hold their value as well - 4.0l Jeeps and the like depreciate horrendously because few people want to be saddled with the running costs so they tend to sit around unsold for longer...

It was pictorially demonstrating what's going on :finger:

Money & debt are very important especially with a 25 base rate rise going to happen this Thursday and then probably going up as far as 6% nearer the end of 2007.

This may seem irrelevant to many of you but think of it this way - most people are going to have less cash left over at the end of each month, this means they spend less and can save up at a lower rate than previously. The result for you trying to sell your car is its either going to take a long time to sell or your going to have to reduce the price or hold the car for longer.

Plus I am giving you advice for free on the

oh, so now you're a qualified financial advisor, too?

Car is a Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo - modified to circa 285bhp.

Std 0-60 6 seconds

0-100 14 seconds

VMax 155mph.

MPG I achieve 30-32mpg and best ever 37mpg worst 25mpg.

This should be well known as it has been raised before.

There is no doubting the fact that the 330d MSport is a great car - Im sure most on here would like one the newer the better (as they are step ups in power each time) but I'd be happy with the 204bhp
