40k service and water pump.

Featured Replies

Just a quick 'watch it' really.....Had my 40k service carried out today complete with cam belt change etc. I also asked for the water pump to be replaced after reading numerous posts on this site.

Was glad I did as about 75% of it was missing when they removed it!! New spangly metal impeller is now in its place.

Was surprised by the wear and damage given I don't particularly hammer the car and the engine is 'standard' There was also no obvious sign of the car ruuning 'hot' despite most of the pump being in pieces.

Definately worth checking for a few extra quid on your main service.

Cheers for that.

Is it a 1.8t?

out of curiosity, how much did the belt change cost?

I've attached the prices for all those interested. Didn't compare other than Skoda main dealer ~

6.5 hrs labour ? Is that right ?

my octy has just had 40k full service for

How easy is it to check the water pump state.

Were should i look in the engine bay ?

Hi Mate

The only way to check the water pump is to take it off

Then you need to get the cam belt off to check the water pump

They are not THAT expensive , so we replace it at the same time as the cam belt , just to save having to do the job twice

You would not believe the amount of times we have had cars in with less than 2k miles on the clock after the cam belt

So it is always done with us

We do the metal impella`d one , not THAT expensive , about

Cheers Sarah, Might aswell wait for 60k.

Thought i might be able to give it a quick check.

I have seen a few with it go just before

Just keep an eye on the temp guage

If it creeps up a bit at speed it has gone

Mainly they are about gone at 60k so worth getting it done then with the cam belt
