Switched live?

Featured Replies

Hi all.

Was tinkering with the stereo in my felicia this morning trying to get it so that it switched on and off with the ignition and also to wire in my FM modulator and wire that to do the smame.

The problem is that i cant find an ignition switched live that would make this possible. Is there even one?

There is a live that is for the stereo ilumination on the original stereo and comes on with the lights (not totally practical way of controlling stereo lol)

I have wired the modulator into the blue wire out of the back of the stereo as i believe that this controls the power to the antenna amplifier in the car and so will switch on/off with the stereo...

Would be greatful of any help you guys can offer me....

felly letrics are well funny, every thing seems to be live all the dam time.

there is no switched live on th radio in a felicia

thought that would be the case.

Never mind.

Will hopefully be getting a control unit to make the headlights automatic and also have side lights on with ignition, so might be able to wire it up to that to come on with ignition.

Can't remember which wire it was but i connected (piggybacked) my aftermarket electric windows to a switched live at the back of the ignition switch

there is a switched live in the diagnostics connector that could possibly be used

on you could just go straight into one of the unsused terminals in the fuse box

I unwired my stereo to switch off with the ignition - it was a pain in the a*** as I was used to being able to use it without the igntion on in other cars I have had.

The old cable was running into the ignition itself - via a block connector.

I investigated this myself with a favorit and reading the Haynes manual wiring diagram showed which wire in the fusebox was the switched live. I am looking at getting a new stereo so want to wire it up if I can to switch off with ignition, as the stereo manual says it is important to have a switched live, plus also the stereo has some sort of feature where it auto pops off the front and beeps to remind you to take it.

I have found the correct wire through use of a multimeter. My plan is to chop this wire, strip a little off the ends either side and use a connecting block and add a wire in the connecting block (piggyback) and run this to the correct connector on the stereo. And as the wire I will be cutting to get that done is a permanent live, I have a use for that near the stereo.

Not done this yet and not sure it's a good plan but can't think of anything better.

you might be better off using a scotchlok

this clips onto your existing wire, then you insert your new wire into the hole on the left... squeeze down the metal tab with some pliers, then snap the lid shut... job done
