17705 Fault - Cleared in VAG, Will it come back?

Featured Replies

the engine light came on in my vrs a few days ago after a long trip. I checked it over and plugged in vag-com.....

2 Faults Found:

17705 - Pressure Drop between Turbo and Throttle Valve (check D.V.!)

P1297 - 35-00 - -

17545 - Fuel Trim: Bank 1 (Add): System too Rich

P1137 - 35-00 - -

so its either (as I understand)

New large hose from the I/C to the turbo for the new one with revised seals

New throttle body

New inlet temp sensor

New vacuum pipe under the manifold

I thought these may be intermittant problems so I cleared the fault it vag com.

my question:

if this is not an intermittant problem and is actually a permanent fault, due to the fact that i have now cleared the fault, will the ecu's fault register ignore the 17705 fault forever, or will it pick it up (and show the engine warning light again) the next time it is detected?

cheers

If it detected the fault again, then it will log them, adn if appropiate turn in the engine warning light. I have never had my warning light come on, even though I have had codes logged (normally overboost issues on my TDi)

A friend had these codes on a mk4 golf gti. He had the throttle body cleaned and it dissapeared. I don't know why or how but it worked.

HTH

I don't fancy your chances of it being resolved. Its still on my mk1. A throttle body clean seems to do the business until it gets dirty again :) I spoke to a service guy from another Skoda dealership and he seemed to agree.

There was a hugh amount of posts from various people on here about it and I don't think there was ever a final resolution.

Jaysus the old baby was like a bullet after the cleaning :D
