scratched alloys - is there a diy solution?

Featured Replies

We have horrible sticky-out bits on the kerbs in our road, and I have already managed to put two small scrapes on the surface off two of my alloys (car is only 2 months old, so I am NOT a happy bunny!). If you park more than a couple of inches from the kerb you run the risk of getting the offside knocked because the road is quite narrow and it is used as a rat-run!

Is there any product that I can use to remedy the scrapes, or is it a case of getting it done professionally? Any advice appreciated.

Halfords do a repair kit, never tried it though :)

Hammerite silver spray paint is a good match for the colour of Skoda wheels. You could try spraying a little into the can's cap and using a fine artist's brush to touch up the damage.

I took I huge chunk (5mmx5mmx25mm) out of a Golf GTI Montreal II alloy.

1) slightly overfilled the hole with epoxy resin (alledgedly the hard as metal variety)

2) sanded it back to flush with slight blend into surrounding paint

3) carefully painted it up with brand new (good "flow") reflex silver paint stick

Job done :D
