Skoda dealers are nice, Seat dealers are rude

Featured Replies

Ordered the sound proofing foam today for the cylinder head on the vRS at the Seat dealer in York and I have to day that I was a bit miffed at how rude they were.

Some lass answered the phone and she sounded like she'd just just been chased by a wild animal....all dishevelled and disorganised, almost dropping the phone at one point. She then informed me that there was no-one on the parts desk to take my call so could I leave a message? "Err....I guess so" I responded leaving my details for someone to call me back.

Sure enough, some guy did call me back who clearly didn't give a rats a55 about what I was after. He took the part number, confirmed my details and then just hung up. No mention of calling me when it would arrive, no mention of cost, payment methods, nothing. ****.

It's not the first Seat dealer to be cr4p with me either funnily enough.

After dealing with DM Keith in Leeds and FR Pulleyn in York, I know that good service can be provided by our more familar VAG stablemate. Even BMW were better and they were pretty useless.

Anyway, hopefully the foam will add a little bit of deadening to the usual vRS PD 'takka takka'.....if it arrives at all.

Their attitude was one of the reasons why I stuck two fingers up at them and went back to the Skoda dealership with my deposit money.

Need to order some parts from them and luckily there is a Skoda/ Seat service centre nearby who I've already dealt with and seem 10x more professional than the local Seat dealer.

It does make a real difference to the noise mate, id buy one for mine but am poorer than a skint halfords employee on min wage! ill just "borrow" our bens off the ibiza when hes not looking.

you have PM mate

I used to have a SEAT and my dad has one now - the SEAT dealership in Bury has been pretty good.:)

Today I phoned around some Skoda dealers in Manchester for cambelt fitting prices and wasn't too impressed - the receptionist at Horners in Manchester put me straight through to the service department, but it rang out for over 5 mins and no-one answer so I put the phone down. Horners in Rochdale told me the guy I needed to speak to wasn't in but they would phone me back - they didn't.

The Dealer in Eccles answered the phone straight away, but instead of me talking to the guy in service, I had the conversation through the receptionist, but atleast I got a price.

After going through a quick menu at Awesome GTI, the phone was answered after a couple of mins by a knowledgable guy who answered all my questions.

The price was

Yup the York SEAT dealership is pants. Went in once to look at a second hand A4 sline Avant they had. Really nice car and was looking at it as a replacement for the Bora. Anyhow the sales guy just didn't seam interested and then had the cheek to say I prob couldn't afford it. Cheaky git..... so I went outside and got in my then new A4 (his face was a picture) and went off to look at what is now my vRS.

Personally I would say round Nottingham it is the otherway around, Beeston SEAT were great when I was looking for a car, let me take out an Ibiza FR and Cupra by myself for a few hours without any hassle, couldn't get more than a 15 minute accompinied drive from any of the Derby or Nottingham Skoda dealers.

In the end it was the cost which made me go with the Vrs over the FR, certainly wasn't the dealers.

The Seat dealers in Cheltenham are very good, sometimes there isnt anyone in the parts section but if i stick my head in the Sales bit they always send someone down straight away. And they let me test drive a nice new yellow Leon FR TDi when they knew i really couldnt afford to buy one! Hehe. In fact i would go as far as to say that they are more helpful than the Skoda dealers, all they seem to want to do is rip me off.

Yeah, chances are the service will vary wildly between regions. The Seat dealer in York was just plain unimpressive.

Mind you, they're not the only dealers who've left me with a bad taste in my mouth.

Out of the 11 cars I've owned, the following dealers stood out as being truly sh!t:

Ford in Scarborough - They just sit watching football when you're waiting to be served at the parts desk.

Peugeot in Scarborough - Parts desk couldn't even find the right bit that I wanted on any of the diagrams even though I had the old one in my hand. I'm sure they employed 'speshal' people on purpose.

Peugeot in York - A god awful shower of tw4ts and utter rob dogs. Their sole mission in life is to relieve you of your cash through any means necessary. And they forget to take the bulbs out of the boot lights of the cars on the forecourt so the batteries go flat, the immobilisers stick on and they can't let you test drive them as a result. Fools.

Also, if you tell them your A/C is leaking and is empty as a result when you take your car in to be looked at, they'll try re-gassing it anyway and then try charging you

In response to the OP's thread title, that's a bit of a mass generalisation really. I've had mediocre service from both!

Steve

Seat Dealers in St Albans.... Coupers ..... Never touch them! Right Con-Men....

white dove in cardiff has skoda/seat & mitsubishi under 0ne roof! seem pretty good to me!

you guys have not spoke to the service receptioniest at my local dealer!

she is about the only person who really manages to hack both me and my dad off every time.

normally we are fairly easy going people and understand both sides but that woman just seems to manage it

I went to FR Pulleyn some months ago to have my headlights aligned (xenon's) and they made a complete mess of the job! I have found their parts people to be very friendly/helpful recently though.

Well, shock upon shock the part arrived and I've just been to collect it.

The Seat dealer was dead. Funny thing was the sales guy in there trying to pursuade a guy to chop in his old shape Leon for a new one on the basis that the old ones are 'rubbish and old fashioned'.

Good technique! Way to go salesman........

Donkey.

I have had dealings with a few dealers and LHT Skoda in Swansea are the best I have come across. I got a really good deal with them when getting my year old vRS and had a problem with flickering speedo needle lights. They changed all the lights without a fuss and were very polite and helpful. (plus I bargained in the 2nd service free so hopefully that won't be a problem next month)

I had a Fiesta ST before and have to say that Days of south Wales (the 3 branches that I tried) are totally useless, rude and blame you if there is a problem with your car. The service managers are w*ankers and when your in dash CD changer packs in they simply say they are going to order you a new 1 but instead make you wait 2 weeks before putting in 1 they just pulled out of another Fiesta which is nackered. (tempers were raised then) The only plus point is that there was a smart bird on the desk.

FRF Vauxhall in Swansea took 1 took at me and turned their noses up at me. Being 24 they obviously deiced that I could not afford a new Astra so ignored me. Lucky for me because I then tried the vRS and made my mind up there and then.

FRF Seat in Swansea are useless too. They would not let me test drive any cars and I knew more about the new Leon than 2 of the sales blokes. Usuall we will ring you and no call.

I went to Network Q for used vauxhalls and the sales guy had the bright idea of tryig to make me put a grand deposit on a car just to test drive it. I politely told him to shove it where the sun dont shine. When he saw the ST outside he tried to change his mind but I gave him the V.

Sorry for the rant but I really enjoyed writing that report!

I'm a very happy SEAT owner but I will agree with chrispy, the Skoda dealers are so much nicer, especially those on Service, not just the ones after your money!!

My car is serviced at Skoda for this reason, plus my dad has a VRS Fabia!

Personally I am not impressed with any of the VAG dealerships.

The majority seem self important, as if they are doing you a favour servicing your car.

There are a few excellent VAG dealers out there, but they are few and far between IMHO

Come to T.Wells, this Skoda dealer are one of the few...
