Volvo C30,

Volvo C30 outside my local Volvo dealership today, windscreen price was

Why anyone would want to pay that kind of money for such a pig ugly car is beyond me!.

I saw one of the new small estates today, and I must say it looked very very nice.

But for

Ugly?

I think it looks cracking.

It is expensive for the size of vehicle though

I think the current TV ad implies that it's a 'marmite' car. Looks ugly imho but who am I to argue with those that buy it!.

I quite like the look of them, only 4-seater though, and a gap between the rear seats  That one was cheap, the one I sat it/looked over at the Motor Show last year was 27k!

Do agree that's pricey, but they're going after the premium market, like the A3 does. People who want all the features of a larger vehicle, but without the overall size...

Steve

it might sound pricey but what does a spec'd up octavia cost?

and a C30 could be a lot faster with a 2.5 5 cyl turbo, 6 speed gearbox and only 1347Kg :D

now get that remapped for some good power.

I like it a lot and a good range of engines too :D The 180ps D5 is particularly nice

I like it as well!! If I had that kind of budget , it would be 'on the list'.

It's uglier than Jodie Marsh imho.

I will never buy a volvo after having a 480 (the c30 of old). An unmitigated piece of sh!t.

To directly compare the 480ES and C30 is a bit harsh IMO. This new model is based on the current Focus platform. Rather a good starting block I think.

Remember, we drive Skodas. Would you compare today's Fabia or Octavia with something made by the marque 15 years ago, and judge it accordingly?

Steve

Just what I was going to say, Steve.

I've driven a few Volvo's recently and they've been well made, solid with "clunking" doors, driving positions have been spot on, seats extremely comfortable and supportive, more toys and gadgets than you can shake a stick at, and silky smooth, quiet powerful engines. If only they could sort out the wallowy suspension .... maybe now with Ford's chassis engineers onboard for the new V70 and C30, they'll have this nailed :D

Chris

I must admit to liking the C30 but it is alot of money. Also..as already said...only a 4 seater.

Basically it's a Focus redressed.

I had a sit in a V50 estate...very nice...and some nice touches like the built in children seats. Could have gotten one at a good price as well.

They're trying to big it up as a Marmite car, but my reaction is very neutral.

The C30 D5 is very nice, just a shame about the tiptronic only box option :(

I have to agree that the price is too high, which is a shame.
