Turbo not working?

Featured Replies

Hi all

Just looking for any thoughts (i am as technical as a brick, but i learning, thanks to this site!)

my oct vRS is working fine, apart from i feel the turbo may not be working.

ie i used to be able to hear it, now i cant, also the acceleration doesnt feel as quick (but i could be imagining it!)

if it wasnt working, are there any other things i should look out for?

there are no real losses of power as some have had, just not great boosts as thought there was.

and can a turbo, just stop working?! (told you my tech knowledge was minimal!)

Thanks

G

could be a hose off or split , losing boost pressure

Can you still feel the kick at 1800 rpm/.

MAF failure is a possible. See if someone near you has VAG-COM.

yeah, there is still a slight kick at 1800, which makes me a bit positive.

no one access to vag com that i know, in glasgow area, unless i take to a vag garage.

was trying to avoid that initially....

washing my car tomorrow, maybe that will cheer it up!

What RON petrol do you use?

Washing the car always seems to make it faster for me :)

last time i used 97 ron, what was available when needed to fill up.

its just more of a smooth acceleration, than that of a turbo. really could just be me!

(i know, smooth acceleration, and i moaning!! mad!)

Like cjb stated, it could be MAF related, you could try giving it a clean.....
