Octi MKI oil change at 15000 Km (9500 Mi)?

Featured Replies

My dealer says that I need to change the oil on my Octi MKI at 15000 Km or 9500 Mi aprox.

Tha manual says it also, and looking at the oil filter it says that needs to be changed at 30000 Km (like 19000 Mi).

Is this the usual procedure for VAS group engines?

I'm selling now my Twingo that needed 5000 Km (3000 Mi) oil changes and I'm new to long oil change intervals.

please advice me

Many people change their oil as often as 5000 miles for peace of mind.

But it all depends if your car is on fixed or variable servicing.

On fixed servicing you change every 10000 miles but on variable it depends on how the car is driven, it could be 10000 to about 20000 miles.

Skud vrs, thanks for the info, my Octi says fixed maint. intervals.

On next visit to the dealer my first question is if I can reduce to 10000 Km (6000 Mi) and if the change didn't hurts the system of the car with messages of service at 15000 Km

You can't do any damage other than to your wallet and the World oil reserves by changing oil and/or filter more often than recommended. In fact some makers (don't know about VAG off-hand) recommend halving the oil change intervals (so 15_000km oil changes would come down to 7_500km) if you live in a very dusty area or high humidity climate.
