Miltek Downpipe fitted...

Arh quiet returns, exchanged the boomy decat option from powerflow for a miltek downpipe and mr ffelan's backbox and utopian peace is restored to the cabin...

Also waved good bye to superchips chip; omg how bad is that map?

Swaped to the APR EMCS system. Always hard to say what you get as no rollers, but conservative published is 207BHP/245lbs Torque, on 95 Ron fuel, which is the program I had running at the NW meet this week just gone. Managed to run a tank of optimax through her and now on the 98 program wihich is +10% to BHP and a little torque....WOW, me mucho happy.

There is such a difference between my 4x4 with APR and optimax and the RS with the same chip and fuel but additionally TIP, CAI and downpipe/backbox added. It's really nice and keeps pulling, that will be the downpipe then :).

Now I need to go for a run in spirited mode with the optimax, but it feels nice thus far

Also hoping to see what v-tune can do as it allows me to move parameters of my map up and down within some boundarys. All from the comfort of my bedroom if I ever get this PC hardwired to the car :D

So we'll see what happens on the 28th (have a RR booked) but the drive is superb I am so glad I got rid of the superchips thing...now if I can just sort out my erratic idling (was happening before on superchip, also now but less pronounced).

Also SWMBO is 600% happier now that the boomer box has gone, which really makes it worth every penny.

Colin, you have a PM.

Colin,

Is the EMCS from your old car? Or new Direct Port Programming version?

I think V-tune only works with DPP so far, no support for older 'chip' version (could be wrong)

Must go and see Jim this week.

I might pop along to the RR day, i'll have to check diary. My results from (not so)well lane RR were 181bhp on 98 prog. Will be interested to see what you get, might make me get a miltek!

Cheers

Phil

Phil,

It is DPP, but it's still the EMCS technology. Just awaiting a cable. The old car ;) is still out there with an APR system, a real bargin for the next owner :)

Rollers are a bit hit and miss which might explain Mikes 1BHP improvement from CAI and TIP...torque unknown.

Col, have to agree... my car seems tgo work well with the down pipe and APR map...

and very noticible improvement in mpg!

Colin

I assume you wont need a laptop either ;)

I should be getting a cable myself this week, then re-flash and V-tune here we come.

Some interesting threads over in the US on club18T/VWfixx etc.

Indeed I looked to the US when I first got APR, a huge market and so on...

Alot of threads all over, just need to get it from the horses mouth to be sure...engines are cheap, labour and hirecars are not.

Also waved good bye to superchips chip; omg how bad is that map?

but the drive is superb I am so glad I got rid of the superchips thing...

Thats why i keep my trusty push-bike:D

(better go and check the tyres and oil the chain)

ECU explorer would be a cheap alternative to 'clumsy' guages etc. if an onboard pc was to be used.

I'm off to tell myself its only a car which i dont spend enough time in anyway, must...........resist............

P.S Have the buttons changed? nice job, thought something was different(this PC at work has a crap screen though, i'll have to wait 'till i get home to see it properly)

umm almost like you read my mind, although there are a few issues, Real Time activity is only avail in dial mode and not graph mode...need to play with it, if I can get my hands on a copy ;)

I've got the Milltek dp/cat fitted and the pull is vey good......IIRC the dp/cat gives more torque than outright power.

I've got the Milltek dp/cat fitted and the pull is vey good......IIRC the dp/cat gives more torque than outright power.

If that's a generalisation for all dp/cats and the same theories are applicable to diesels, I can see a very big :D coming

IIRC, the OEM dp is a very strange design....the pipe is kinked and squshed in places.....the Milltek dp and the new Jabba dp have a nicely flowing arc and are of course 2.5'' in bore. All add to better flow and coupled with a sports cat back, reduced back pressure.

Edited: forgot to say that the sports cat also helps...Milltek 200cel, Jabba 100cel.
