Rattle & clatter - advice please.

Featured Replies

As I mentoned, I have a rattle & clatter from my rear nearside caliper on the vRS. I have had the wheel off and think it is the inside pad moving around when the car is moving, ( I did hit a particularly bad pot hole on Friday). Apply the brakes and the sound stops.

Two questions:

1. Is it a simple job to sort? i.e. Can a complete novice like myself sort it?

2. As the car is under warranty, but the dealer is a 40 mile round trip, would sorting it myself (or getting another independent garage to sort it) cause warranty issues?

Are both tension springs still in place ?

Good question. Probably not, I'm assuming the jolt caused the spring to come off/loosen itself. Mind you, this is the first car where this has happened, I wouldn't have thought a Skoda would be phased by such a thing. Even my rusty old Fiats were a bit better than this...

It may be a warranty job anyway looking at the process involved I think. I don't want to mess around and bodge the job up and have to go to Skoda with the problem worse than it already is.

Thanks for the advice though.
