The Roomster By .....Me

The Skoda Roomster 2 1.4 16v 85 bhp Petrol

Having the Roomster on a 48 hour test drive and clocking up almost 400 miles in a day here is my verdict.

The Roomster is a cleverly designed mini MPV offering ooodddles of space and practicality for a car of it's size. The overall appearance is good with excellent viewing for both front and rear seat passengers. The driving position is good and has the benefit of both driver and passenger seat height adjustment. The dash is modern, with easy to read dials and is fitted out with a soft touch Finnish to give it the expensive look. The rear seats can be moved back and forth and can recline to give a really comfortable, if not slightly firm ride. They can also be individually folded up to give maximum load space although the the boot space is excellent with the seats down, a 12v socket and a couple of cubbyholes for storage. The roomster rides well on the 15" alloys and had a positive steering and good brakes with disc's alround. For what the car was designed for, and the price, you have to give it 10/10 although the 1.4 petrol was a little sluggish (my opinion) it held it's own at Motorway speeds and averaged around 40 mpg on the day. It felt as though it needed another gear. I think the 1.6petrol or the 1.9 TDi would be my chosen Engine if I was in the Market for such a vehicle. All in all a good day's Drive and was pleased with the overall performance......9/10......:)

I had a 1.9 TDi as a courtesy car for one service and it was great. Loadsa room and the engine sounded very throaty, just had to be revved!

Loads of 'inquistive' looks from others too..!

Good review. I have 1.4 TDi, not that fast away from standing (what deisel is? (Ok, Jags, BMWs etc)), but pulls really well over 2500 revs. Pulls half a ton of trailer tent with no problems.
