Well, popped up to Westover Skoda today, see what the situation was. The new engine got delivered Yesterday, so will be going in on/from Wednesday (Their 2 most responsible Mechanics are on holiday until then...)

So.. Skoda should be finished with it by next weekend, then it goes back to the bodyshop, apparently (according to Skoda) they have the bumper etc already, so shouldnt have it too long there, then i should get it back! :D

Popped into Skoda again today...

Car was up on the ramps, new engine in, but they are a couple of parts short, whcih will be in Monday earliest, so now they are looking at being completed by mid week...

So good news, but still just the waiting game...

What an epic tale...

Fingers crossed the happy ending is now in sight!

Even closer now!

Skoda have finished with it, so it now has an Engine again!

It is back at the Bodyshop, and they are waiting for the bits to come in... They told me they had them, but actually meant they knew where they were getting them from...

So, i have to call them at the end of the week, and they will then have an idea of how long they will be with it, and ultimately, when i should be able to have it back!!!

Only 5 and a bit months then.............

Think of the mileage you've saved.

lol, well, i did 3000 in 10 days, so if i go by that....

roughly 9000 per month x 5

45,000 miles :rofl::rofl:

Sounds nasty, any news on who's picking the tab yet?

Can't believe it has taken so long!!

What about the warranty on the car? you've essentially lost getting on 6 months on the 3 years provided, will this be taken into account when you get the car back provided it's being kept for that long?

And I thought my 15,000 in 3 months was excessive

I havent delved into finding out if the warranty will be extended etc etc, will look into that once i get the car back i think, i have the date it went, and will record the date it returns, then speak to Skoda through the lease company...

Thats the least they can do really.

Get the car back before rattling SUK's cage eh

Too right, i would expect them to do it without me asking or demanding, but that wont happen...

and yep, as soon as i get the shed back, ill start with the hassling... :D

The bodyshop is reckoning it'll be done for the end of the week.... :D

Pah...

They havent started putting it back together, and apparently there are a fair few parts that need refitting...

Alos, they dont work weekends...

Won't be finished this week, so, its now estimated to be Wednesday...

Ah well, ill have it soon enough i guess...

FFS...................

The saga rumbles on

Are the techs on Jamaican time???

Reminding me of a story about a languages researcher visiting the Western Isles.

He asks an old fisherman "Is there any word in Gaelic that is equivalent to the Spanish 'manana', meaning 'tomorrow?"

The old Gael stops and thinks for a minute, then replies "No. I can not think of any word in the Gaelic which would convey just that precise sense of urgency."

I know, Its so bloody annoying that the car is so near, yet so far,

I just want it back, wouldnt mind getting MaxiDot retrofitted somehow, and a few things tweaked on VAGCOM, (once i find someone who can do it, and once i understand the gist of it...)

Of Course, i will keep this updated with any developments from Skoda i hear, incase it definitely is a Manufacturing or Part fault...

Glad to hear you have the old (?) girl back.

Hopefully you can enjoy the car for a bit longer than last time.

That's good news, not before time. enjoy

Glad to hear you have it back.. Don't forget to put comments in the dealer review section ;)

Hope you enjoy the car and that it keeps working :)

Hi

Good news !! your story has been of interest to many of us, and a good out come will be more than welcome.

Were awaiting hand over new 1.9tdi Amb 4x4, in next 48hrs !!!

DANG!

Today my engine dropped! Luckily it didnt happen in speed,

althou i did drive some few hundred meters slowly with it.

Its now on the docks, but I'm afraid of the costs because its

out of its 2 year warranty (not three as you have).

It should be covered by skoda since it is not normal wear to

engine mounts to break under 40.000miles or 3years...

The Skoda service couldnt tell, how long it would take.

I had it checked on summer for slight shudder under acceleration,

but they didnt find anything.

Well... I think it might have been the same problem.

EDIT: The car is Skoda Octavia II Combi 2.0 dsl DSG MY2006...63.000km
