Octavia convenience system data bus

Featured Replies

Hi

2000 Octavia

Following a service I have the following fault code read out:

"46 - Central module comfort system"

"01329 035 Convenience system data bus in emergency running mode"

There are no apparent faults with the car.

Does anybody know what could cause this???

This may help -

01329 - Ross-Tech Wiki

Possible Causes

Wiring and/or Connectors faulty

Door Control Module(s) faulty

Possible Solutions

Check/Repair Wiring and/or Connectors

Check/Replace Door Control Module(s)

Special Notes

This fault code describes that the Convenience System Data Bus is operating in Single Wire mode.

You can check the door control modules by disconnecting all of them and reconnecting them one after another, while checking the comfort system meas. blocks regarding the data bus status.

Thank you that is really helpful. It sounds fairly straight forward to check out. Do you know exactly where the data bus is. I understand that it is somewhere in the passenger footwell and can be affected by water leaks from the pollen filter. I haven't had a look yet, so the location may be obvious on inspection.

As I understand it the Data Bus is exactly that, it is the series of wiring that distributes the data commands around the vehicle.

There is a central locking control unit in the boot which does suffer from water ingress if the washer pipe has leaked.

Any chance you could post the complete data from that module (e.g. by using the copy codes button on the fault code screen)? There are common issues with the door control modules too which could be elaborated that way.

Hi

Thanks for your interest. I don't have access to the diagnostic equipment myself, just the information given to me in a print-out by the dealer. Maybe I should invest is some test equipment to help me look after the vehicle in future.
