I own the fastest car in the world! Official.

Well, it felt like it today after I returned the 1.2 Fiat Punto I'd been given for two days as a courtesy car.

Setting off again in the vRS made me smile from ear to ear and whoop for joy. I do feel sorry for folks that have to drive cars like that every day.

It was okay in a 'I'm saving money and being sensible' kind of way, but simple tasks such as pulling out of junctions became like a game of Russian Roulette. Will I make it - won't I make it? Overtaking was a no-no and the wibbly wobbly ride was beginning to make me seasick.

Apologies to anyone who owns one, but even the bloke on the service desk said 'sorry' as he handed me the keys.:o

Hooray for Skoda!

And I'm sure there are people who drive

Not wanting to be funny (Certainly not with someone with a Ford Capri in their signature ;) ) had a MK1 1.2 Punto for six years and it served me well - If drove the one you had I would guess I would find it ok apart from the handling maybe.

No offence guess its a difference in views (I do drive cars with larger engines), Im more interested in whats under the bonnet etc rather than how fast it goes.

Yes the Skoda is a superior car;)

It wasn't the old Punto, but one of the new Maserati styled ones. Quite a big car for the engine. I've driven the old one a few times and it was fine. This just felt too big for the engine they decided to put in.

I've set something off now without thinking it through.:o In my defence, I was the proud owner of a 750cc Panda and a 1.3 Capri in the past, so I'm no stranger to the delights of more air under the bonnet than engine. In fact you could get into the engine bay of the 1.3 Capri to work on it there was so much room!

It was just such a relief to get back into the Skoda and be able to make reasonable progress.:)

Its ok I did think it was the old Punto !! I can see where you're coming from though, sorry for being a bit off :o but always have fond memories of my Mk1

Always liked Capris though (Bit off topic !)

I can understand where you are coming from especially having driven a 1.4 Focus estate today, but there really is no comparison between a 1.2 to a 2.0TFSI.

agree with the smiling from ear to ear too!:D

I will probably be joining the club, Fab vRS is going to the insurace to be repaired and I bet I'll get a 1.2 courtesy car for a week.

I'll be whooping too when it comes back. :D

My punto's not slow :P

edit: although I did drive one of the 1.4's and thought that was slow, so I know where ya comming from ;)

I had 2 Punto's as hire cars for 2 weeks a few years ago after I pranged my Mondeo. Blooming AWFULL  . UNcomfertable, cr*P driving positon, underpowered etc, etc. The first one's window wipers broke and the second one had a knackered wheel bearing and it was brand new !

And to add insult to injury, the insurance company would not pay for them and the company used by them to repair my car, nicked 2 CD's fom the CD player  . Still, they've gone out of business now, HA HA!

Still, you can't beat a blat in a Vrs to put a smile on your face.

I feel a bit better knowing that I'm not the only one to think this. At first, I felt I had offended people and we had a secret Punto Appreciation Society.

If we have, I'll call in an air strike :D

Can I just observe that a "low rent shopping wagon" does not have to be a completely rubbish car as well? In the last year or so I've had last shape Nissan Micra and V@*xh@!! C0r$@ hire cars, and the V@*xh@!! was nasty, but the Nissan wasn't.

I will second that on the Corsa front. We had one as a hire car on hols last month and my God was it uncomfortable to travel in for more than fifteen minutes. I have never experienced such discomfort from any car :thumbdwn: It was brand spanking new with something like 10 kilometres on and you should have seen the state it was in when we handed it back :o

I wouldn't worry too much - Vanish will shift most of those stains ;)

Ahh, I stand corrected.

I own the second fastest car in the world! Official.:D

Ahh, you bunch of amateurs!

Fastest car in the world is a hire car/courtesy car.

That thing should have been returned with no oil in, bald tyres and brakes doing metal on metal....

Fastest vehicle in the world= Astravan 1.7TD.
