How do servicing costs vary, Spain/U.K.?

Featured Replies

My 2001 Fabia 1.9tdi has just been into the VW/Skoda main dealer in Marbella for its annual service.

I noticed that Skoda labour rates, are 41.80 euros + VAT, per hour, while VWs are charged out at about 8 euros more per hour!

[same workshops, same technicians etc. etc.] Our VAT, known as IVA, is 16%

Labour rates are obviously much lower here than in the U.K., but I'm not so sure about the cost of parts. A front brake pad kit was 73 euros + vat, while the price for the rears was 55 euros +VAT.

Oil filter was 9.70 Euros + VAT and 1.5 cans of brake fluid was 19.58 + VAT. Screen wiper units were, front 16.53 and 13.12, while the rear was 5.55 - all plus VAT.

What's the take of you knowledgeable lot, just as a matter of interest?

P.S. a Euro is worth around

I am sure if you could quote the price of a full service, both standard oil change, and full 20k inspection service we could compare

At the moment it looks as though we could travel to Spain, have a nice sunny weekend, have the service done and drive home, Buy some alcohol and ciggarettes and make a profit on the cost in the UK :-)
