Loss of Boost-Octavia vRS

Featured Replies

Whislt driving normally I have noticed that my octy seems to have lost some of its boost. The turbo is spinning but it is far quieter than normal and there is a distinct loss in pulling power. I found that switching the ignition off and back on it bursts back into life. I have taken the car to the dealer but no codes were logged in the ecu.

Can anyone offer some advice?

Role Call : One sick Tavia4x4....

Ian has been dogged with this issue, or one very similar for months.

When he resurfaces (presently sick himself) I'm sure he can suggest the fix and you can either tell your dealer or make them replace everything ;)

dodgy pipe down to the intercooler iirc... jon had same....

yup, know it well, although i had a couple of codes, 17705 and another, will dig out the part numbers and post tomorrow, whereabouts are you based?

Thanks Ian, im based in Hertfordshire, MKG in Stevenage is my dealer.

MKG tis my local dealer as well, in that case you will know Mark. My vRS if getting quiet famous in there because of all the bits and bobs that I have changed. He should be able to sort you out.

hehe, if you look by the service desk on the right you will see a piece of paper with www.briskoda.net and www.octaviars.com scrawled on it.

I was speaking to Mark at MKG today, I think Lloyd has his problem solved now as he was in the dealer just before me. Mark has replaced a faulty coilpack so hopefully Lloyd is ok now.

The boost problem still exists (all be it a rare occurrence) but the MKG boys sorted out a misfire for me this morning (dud coil pack as I pulled of the drive), I gave them at least 3 minutes notice that I needed help and they sorted me pronto.

They have always been bloody good to me!

So what turned out to be the cause? I seem to suffer from the same thing at very irregular intervals - usually weeks in between for a few months now.

But then I turn it off for a restart and the car is back to its old self...

Mattija,

yours sounds like the infamous 17705 problem, air leak between turbo and throttle body. turning of the engine and restarting seems to solve the problem for a while till it comes back. I had a pipe changed a couple of weeks ago, all was well for a while then I got it again last week. funkyj had this problem to, and it was traced to a failed gasket between the throttle body and the pipe that goes to the intercooler. The leak was very very slight but enough to generate the code. Could also be the DV.

Thanks, Manny. I'll throw that code at my dealer's and will read up on 17705 threads...
