Ideas boys and girls....I want to spend

Featured Replies

Hi peeps,

I've basically got

You've come to the right place!!!

I would suggest a new after market air filter to go with your remap and possibly a new MAF depending on how old your car is.

Depending on remap cost, a rear ARB maybe?

Jabba custom re-map would be the one to go for, but if you decided against the re-map idea you could look at the following:

Rear ARB is a must!!!

Poly bushes (at least the front wish bones)

Decent air filter (Green or K&N)

A 2.5" downpipe and cat is another good alternative (Jetex or Blueflame).

A 2.5" cat back system on its own won't give you much in the way of a gain without the d/p and cat though, so it'd be best to do this mod in one.

Hi Guys

Thanks for the ideas so far, they sound good although I have a question..

The rear ARB, how will this improve the car? To be honest I'm not looking for an increase in top end speed as I never do over a ton but I really love that feeling of throwing you back in your seat and whooping those BMW drivers:-)

Thanks again

Marc

A decent remap, you wont go far wrong with Jabba

Check with your insurance co first as ANY mod to your car should be declared & different companies have different policies & additional costs

Basic Jabba remap and some driver training....

I would agree, driver training is the only mod you can take from car to car, its just not a trendy thing to do but it could save your life one day

PM me for my address send the money to me. Instantly feel better about yourself as I will have a new FMIC and clutch for my Golf.

You know it makes sense.

The other benefit is that you can use that extra power more of the time too

Something oft overlooked, but something so fundamental to getting the best out of a car!

Guys,

Thanks for the ideas and a giggle, will take them on board but ref the driver training, i'm actually a graded response driver for the police so I have a little understanding of this concept, I totally agree with driver training before driving a fast car, so underestimated!

Cheers again

Marc

I`m getting the carbonio induction kit from awesome gti and may well plump for a new exhaust before my remap, I guess its best to have your aspiration all sorted before getting a custom remap, or have i got that all wrong?

Ah well, at least you know where we're coming from :D So easy to up the power but to actually get the full benefit...... ;)

Hence why I recomended a new MAF - A hugely overlooked part.
