Squeaky Suspension

Featured Replies

Hi Im new to Briskoda and love my little Fabia to bits, but Im slight disappointed as after having it washed professionally it has started to squeak and knock on the driver side suspension. Its been back to the garage and they have checked it all over and have said there is nothing wrong with it at all.

Apparently these valeters use a traffic de-greasing agent under the wheels and that has taken the lubrication off (its been back to be "greased up" again which stopped it for about 3 days !)

Is this really the case or shall I just put up with it.

Any advice is very welcome.

Hiya.

Never heard of significant lubrication in a rubber bush system! Squeaks are usually caused by the rubber drying out and starting to perish.

So this is a bit of a long-term plan, but check whether or not the squeaking goes away when the car's driven in the wet. If it does, then I'd say that you're due a rebush on the warranty.

Hello and welcome. A squeak you could expect from a bit of overzealous pressure washing maybe, but it certainly shouldnt knock as a result of a clean surely? Whenever i have a squeak i just spray WD40 every where but dont know whether that is the right thing to do! hehe

Most likely cause, anti-rollbar bushes. Have the dealer replace these and you should be able to live squeek free again.

Hello again, thanks for your responses but like Arnie, the squeak is back ! I have had it stripped down completely, found nothing wrong again =

I had a similar thing after getting Eibach springs fitted elsewhere. Typically an occasional sudden knock on slow bumpy roads and squeaking. On drivers side (LHD) only. Not really there at higher speeds.

After worrying about it for about 3 months- it went away as strangely as it came.

The garage that fitted it had a look and said all was well - so I just cursed it every time it was there, and in the end it gave up and left...

Car was pressure sprayed after the fitting, but the noise appeared a few weeks later....

Think it may have been the damper tbh....
