colour magic

Featured Replies

recently been using turtle wax colour magic wax polish after washing. however, thats before i found out by reading all of these lovely cleaning threads about autoglym etc (i never cleaned my fiesta and i let it rot, wanna take care of the furby)

planning to go to halfords 2moro and get sum autoglym srp and egp. is turtlewax colour magic of good quality and would it be worth sticking this on top of the autoglym stuff or investing in something else?

thanks guys. :)

i use to use colour magic, but most people here kept praising autoglym and since then thats all ive used and have been pleased with the result.

I personally wouldn't use the colour magic wax polish. I found it to produce an initial good result but the protection and swirl filling ability it offered quickly disappeared.

The Autoglym products you mention are good and I'd do a search on the net to see if you could get it a bit cheaper than Halfords and some sites offer free delivery too.

cool cheers. i kno loads of people ask this but which wax would you say is best, maguires liquid wax or something from autoglym again?

Also, when polishing, is it worth getting an electric polisher or is it simple enough by hand?

Colour Magic isnt meant as a regular polish though its it?

Its basically a t-cut based colour restorer which will strip the paint back leaving you no protection on the paint. Its not supposed to be used as a final product.

i dunno thats why im asking for advice. the stuff claims to get rid of swirls and scrathes yet does nothing. and i wont even go on to talk about that pointless chipstick

Waste of time IMO.

What colour car do you have?

black magic

The colour retstorer is okay once in a while. I used it on my Black magic Octi recently followed by Tcut wax. See my thread "A good seeing to " for results

I am a big fan of anything Auto Glym. Good luck. :D

For a wax, i've been using Collinite 476S recently, and I'm extremely impressed.

You can get it from Elite Car Care or their Ebay shop at eBay.co.uk: Collinite Super Double Coat Auto Wax #476s (item 250040586842 end time 16-Jul-07 11:28:41 BST). It comes well recommended for dark colours, produces a deep shine, and seems very durable, with amazing beading when it rains.

With regard to electric polishers, the general opinion seems to be that cheaper ones don't work well (and may damage the paint). Most of the "experts" on A world for detailers... seem to have gone for the Porter Cable (PC) which has to be imported from America and needs a 110V transformer to run it - not much change out of

dam! ive been using it at least twice a month

You won't have done any lasting damage IMO , but I'd stick with the reccomendations of wax etc on here. To get all the swirl marks out of a black car will be a real pain , especially if the previous owner has either used a car wash , or not been careful when handwashing and polishing.

I didn't think that it was a restorer rather than a colour application. When used with the colour crayon, it is supposed to put a thin coat of black on the car to hide the chips and scratches. i have sooo many chips that I have to use it. After a couple of washes, it wears off and the chips shine through again.

The Zymol polishing wax is an excellent wax IMHO for something you can just put on and take off easily.

I only use it from time to time and top up with a proper pure wax.
