Had the SO-2 PP's on my Impreza and they were excellent, had lovely stiff sidewalls and wore very well. I thought they'd stopped making them back in 2004 as I ended up replacing mine with some SO-3's which were good, but not quite up to the SO-2's....

I agree, had them on my Mk1 golf and were great, but tried to replace them like for like in 05 and couldnt get a set. nice tread pattern too :D

i have them on the font of my octy, dont think they've stopped making em as mine were new 6 month ago. they do alright, not got much to compare em to, the side walls look low from new but the tread on them hasnt really gone down, and they're on the front and im often to be seen giving em a pasting in the dales so i suppose thumbs up from me!

Cheers for replies guys :-)

I had the RE040 on my CTR from new and loved the stiff sidewalls and dry performance, but as noticed by many they don't cut it in very wet conditions... I heard the newer RE050 had improved on this though and that's why I was considering Bridgestones again.

Glad to hear the S-02s have stiff sidewalls as well with nice turn-in as I find the OEM Dunlop Sport 01a a bit soft and indirect on the Octy vRS (though these tyres were fine on my 2.0FSI Sport which surprisngly felt tighter than the vRS ) so hoping they improve the handling/feel as well as give great grip in wet or dry :-)

Between finding some reviews online and your comments above I'm gonna give em a shot and get them fitted 1st thing on Monday morning... review to follow once they're scrubbed in ;)

ps. it could be they are discontinued cos the way the guy was talking it was just luck he got them, and at a good trade price, and he said it was a one time deal. Hope he still has some left next week and I'll ask him if they are now end of line.

Just checked on Bridgestone's website and they don't advertise the SO2 so I'm guessing it has been superceded by the SO-3.

And yes, they have excellent wet and dry grip! Enjoy!

Chris

report back and let us know :) I will be changing from the RE040's when my fronts wear out, as I live in the wettest town in the country! lol.....
