Was driving along the M27 earlier today and came accross this on the opposite side of the carriageway................................

I clocked 4 miles to the end of the tailback caused by it which was lengthening all the time!.

I heard on the radio later that no one was seriously hurt only 'shaken' but it must have been quite a ride ending up like that!

Pics were taken by a passenger in the rear in case you're 'tutting' ;)

Now thats taking rubber necking to the next stage...lol

edit read the small text ;)

one less caravan on the roads , hooray

Is that a Defender it's flipped over!?

scarey enough being in the car towing it, but imagine being right BEHIND the fekker !!

Opps!

It's much more likely to happen to a big tall off roader, trouble is people believe that all that weight will keep them safe.

National coaches actually try to make caravans do exactly this by driving past very close and then pulling out away from the van at the last minute.......they then sit back and watch to see what happens.

your rear passengers have their own wing mirrors? ;)

It's amazing the technology with modern camera's, you can create all sorts of optical illusions! ;)

lol.. caught by the b@lls there m8... :D

Splash one red!! :D

Incidentally, I've seen a roll-over like this happen on a straight road, with no traffic closer than the coach I was in, which was on the other carriageway, and not level with the outfit when the snake started.

that particular stretch of motorway is notorious for cross winds.. the wind blows straight in across portsmouth harbour and up the hill. and it's very exposed

This was up in the Scottish borders, on the old A74; not a particularly windy day either. I remember the windlessness cos I was going on hols, and sailing Hull - Zeebrugge that night.

It looks like a Discovery Td5.

Have heard it happen to a couple of them, could be linked to there air suspension.

You should'nt tow a caravan then should you! :( ;)

Saw one on the A55 once, think he's got it sideways an another car had gone though the caravan...then it all ended up on the crash barrier.

All well, even the gas bottol that was standing up right in the middle of the carriage way.

:P

I've seen a Discovery towing a very large boat end up on it's roof facing the wrong way when I was coming back from Cornwall one year.

Not sure how it had happened , but it didn't look pleasant.

Fortunately everyone seemed unhurt

Firstly: Glad the people are ok.

Secondly: The caravan should be taken to the Top Gear studio and dropped from their crane, just to stop it being used again. :D

Good photos,

I remember Clarkson blowing one of these up on top gear, or something very similar to it.

They are a dammed nuisance, good riddance.

I regularly get caught in traffic jams, we all do. Quite often you get to the reason for the jam and you're surprised to find there's nothing whatsoever on your side apart from people slowing down to rubberneck the accident on the other side of the road.

That's almost as annoying as caravans :)

Dave.

Are you sure it wasnt a film set for a new episode of Top Gear!!
