Help Me!

Featured Replies

Ok, last night my car generated a knocking noise from under the car whilst under heavy acceleration, No problem me thinks ill sort that tomorra, So i put it up on the ramps and the zorst is mighty close to the heat shield for the fuel tank, So I adjust it slightly and thinking job done hop in for a spin, ok job not done its not that, back on the ramps she goes looking for errant bits of vRS car none to be found.

Finaly I find the front bits of plasitic that go around the engine and allen key to the chassie is snapped AHH i think, so i trim and fit again lovely not that!, So again i scramble under the car and cant find anything that can be causing this frantic knocking noise, So I take it to my garage and he puts it up on the ramps and he cant find anything, so we take it out and he comments on its pace but dislikes the noise lol.

He says, its probably not the bearings as its a central noise and increases under acceleration and not breaking, he thinks it does it more when turning hard left but says my shocks all look good(they should be considering their new) and he also thinks its nothing to do with any bush's on the suspension.

He does however say that it could be the exhaust internals, now to test this i need to run it with a differant exhaust lol the zorst i have is 1 month old blue flame full system so hmm I dunno, possible? probbable? either way i need it sorting and am not sure how or what to do next, I dont wanna send/drive the car to skelmersdale thiniking its the new zorst when its not.

So what do I do? apart from nothing as thats not an option.

Could it be wear in the prop shaft, dampers/rubbers which is causing the knocking when accelerating heavily?

Just an idea. Anybody any thoughts?

My first thought was a snapped centre exhaust mount, their known to break, but that should have been spotted when it was up on the ramp....

I know sometime the baffles come loose on these exhausts when new and need time for them to soot up.Could it be this?

Im taking it to a zorst specilist tomorra, he can test it if its internals apparently

Good luck

Hope its simple and cheap.

Find out what it was??

yup!

The internals where fine, but we still couldent find anything, so we whent for a good thrash to heat the zorst to the max, Anybody who has a SS zorst will know when hot they expand and sometimes even sit differantly at the rear, anyhow put it on the ramp when VERY hot and wo and behold when hot the zorst center moves to the right hitting the heat shield just near the middle bracket, so we took the zorst off and trimmed the t-bar bracket and re fitted, again heated it right up and it stays clear thankfully, I was getting a tad annoyed so job done!.

Nice one.

Hi

Glad you got it sorted mate.

My idea was a bit wide of the mark though, not to worry.
