Ho do i remove the gear kn0b?

Featured Replies

Hello,

You'll have to excuse my random questions, but the octavia just doesnt seem to come apart (or fall apart!!) like the mondeo did, but how do I get the gear kn0b off? The top of mine is scratched and I want to replace it..

I dont have an armrest in the middle, but I do have a pop out cup holder thingy, just to the right of the handbrake and it looks as though something has been splilled down there, and it sticks a bit, id like to take it out and give a good flush through with water, is it just a case of being careful with a flat blade screwdriver?

Also, is there supposed to be a vRS badge on the grille? If so are these an integral part of the grille or do they click on or glue or something???

Many Thanks and appologies for all the questions!

Rob

The grille badges glue on.

I'm not 100% familier with the Octy I gear kn0b but if it's like the other then the surround should just pull out. The kn0b itself will probably be held on with one of those hose type clips that is crimped.

PS, sorry for the stars in the title, It never occured to me that I should probably substitute to o with a 0 until I read your posting!

Thanks again.

Rob

Result!

Top man, cheers for your help again!

If you find you do take the kn0b off and bend the clamp I think you could replace it with a small jubilee clip.

Here you go, knew I'd seen a picture on here somwhere. This is a Fabia but it may be similar.

I can confirm that it's exactly the same on the Mk1 Octavia as the pictures above.

Excellent, the pictures really help. Hopefully the parts dept should phone me tomorrow with a price and ill get an order one.

Stu, I noticed on your sig that you have Xenons. Im currenlty searching for a set for the Octavia. I had a HIDS4u set on my Mondeo, but im wondering whether I go for a cheaper set from somewhere else. I ideally want the bi-xenons so dipped and main beam, any suggestsion?

Thanks

Rob

They aren't really retrofitable as a tue system should have the level switches on the axle etc, although there is a method to do most of it on the MK4 Golf if you buy some leads from German eBay.

Mine are factory fit. Aftermarket kits are well below

Oh and make sure you are sitting down when they call. I think they come complete with the gaiter and are circa
