Removal of cubby hole under radio

Featured Replies

I'm just sorting out the Octavia 1.9 Classic estate that I have purchased.

I'd like to remove the 'cubby hole' (plastic box with lined inside) which sits under the Skoda MS303 cassette/radio in the vehicle. I hope that someone knows what I mean. I want to drill a hole in the back of it to pass a lead through from the new head unit I'm going to fit (3.5mm jack for connection to an MP3 player).

Has anyone ever removed one of these? How do you go about it?

Many thanks for any help.

took mine out to fit sat nav ,it is held by a round plug which fits into a round hole in the back of the dash and it was a case of pulling hard .its easier to do if you take the radio out first so you can get your fingers behind to pull .have a look at vwnavi or one of the sites that show how to fit the navi unit and they have photos

You need to remove the radio first because there's a flap on the tray which gets overlapped by the radio...

take radio out then pull on it should come straight out.

Proabably a good idea to remove the decorative trim first to avoid damaging it - open the ash tray then get your fingers under the bottom and gently pull forwards and it unclips.

Just snaps back in.
