It appears that there should be a plastic undertray beneath the engine bay to protect all the "oily bits" from muck and spray off the road. It looks as though it should be in two halves, one forward of the sump drain plug and one to the rear of the sump drain plug. Is this correct or is only the front half fitted as standard?

My 53 plate Octavia vRS only has the front part fitted. Is it likely that the rear half was never fitted or is it common practice for lazy dealers to just forget about refitting it after a service?

If my suspicions are correct, does anyone think I could pick one up from a dealer for free?

Probably not for free, but they will sell you one.

I wouldn't bank on getting one for free and I doubt it would be down to a 'lazy dealer' not replacing it either.

The metal one is available from dealers and has been covered several times on here. You might find a diagram if you use the search.

Most likely been ripped off like two of mine were going over bumps on bad roads.
