Fabia VRS Steering Creak

Featured Replies

Anyone had any experience of a creaking in the the steering before and could tell me what the problem is likely to be the noise sounds like its coming from the steering coloumn itself.

Hi,

I've got a '05 VRS with 70k miles on it and the creaking started last month :( .

It seems to come and go, although with the radio on I just can't hear it.

For the life of me I cannot pinpoint the exact location. It appears to be coming from where the actual steering wheel is attached to the steering column, though sometimes it seems deeper inside the plastic bits.

It annoyed me a lot at first, but got used to it a bit - maybe that's why I do not seem to notice it as much anymore.

Am planning to take a look at it soon though...

Oh, it's a left hooker (Belgian car).

If you find a solution: please share!

All the best,

I would say droplinks would be a good place to start. There have been a couple of revisions to the part.

can you explain a little further on this please? are these drop links something i can change myself... my local dealers are not top of my list of places to take the car.

mine had a creek from what i thought was the steering column which was extremely annoying especially on an uneven road (welcome to nothumberland!). it finally turned out to be the kick panel under the steering wheel rubbing on the centre console, right in the corner. moved the panel up over the top of it. job sorted.
