K04 Turbo and manifold for VRS!!!

Featured Replies

Hello guys just a quick question for you that will probably open a complete can of worms as usual . :D

I have been offered a complete manifold and K04 turbo from an Audi TT 225 and the question is will this be a direct replacement for the K03 on my car and will I have to upgrade any other parts i.e engine internals , ecu , spark plugs etc.....

My car currently has APR stage1 remap (soon to be Stage 2) , carbonio CAI and 100 cel cat downpipe and blueflame exhaust .

Any help on this would be great , thanks

P.S what would upgrading to APR stage 2 give me in the performance department?

In the first instance to make it fit you will need a larger turbo intake pipe and possibly the exhaust down pipe may be larger in diameter to suite the turbo (don't quote me on the latter though). As for other bits, no real need other than map the car to suit the turbo (i.e. up the boost level etc). Though you should consider an Audi S3 MAF, up rated fuel pump and TT spec injectors. You might also want to consider investing in a better intercooler. Performance up to 260, 270 bhp ought to be possible.

Downpipe is definetely needed as the standard one won't fit also custom boost pipework from the turbo is needed. There may also be issues with the oil and coolant lines.

Many thanks for the replies guys , but as I am a bit of a virgin to this tuning lark it would be nice if someone could put together a shopping list for me to help me go in the right direction and not get ripped off along the way .

Thanks in advance!!!!

I would personally look into the modified K03/4 turbos from the likes of turbo dynamics. They do a K03 fitment of the K04 turbo which uses all the standard pipework.

the downpipe is completely different, on a K04 it exits the turbo horizontally rather than virtically on the K03 and as said the intake and boost pipes are different, to get the most out of the turbo you'd also need the injectors from a 210/225 engine and the right map for it really.
