I really think the Roomster should have traction control as standard.

I have a Roomster 2 on loan and its handling is quite scary, especially round bends. My little Fiesta zips round bends with ease that the Roomster tackles with tyres screeching. My Fiesta has no traction control and is 5 years old, the Roomster is a bang up to date modern vehicle.

I fear that things would get even hairier in the wet. Bearing in mind people are going to use this car to ferry kids around I would have thought traction contol would have been a must.

This is standard on the Roomster Scout and one of the reasons I picked the Scout over the 3. The other reasons are in my opinion is it looks better and I would NEVER buy a car with a glass roof.

I suspect it will be the tyres. You'll get 10's of thousands f miles from them, partly due to the bakerlite compound.

I've not driven a roomster so don't know how bad it is, or good if that's your thing.

I suspect when the tyres do expire, you can gain a massive improvement with some good ones, until then I suspect you'll need to obey the slower in and quicker out theory.

??? You sound like you haven't driven many cars

It's a car, and compared to a lot of cars out there it handles fine. It's comparable with a Mk4 Golf pd100 se. It rolls a bit but you don't buy a car like this to go quick in the twisties. As mentioned before you cannot really compare the handling of a Roomster to the handling of a small hatch. I have just speant the last 5 days driving a 1.9tdi Scout and have found it quite excellent, not up to the level of my modified Fabia but still impressively competant for a vehicle of it's stature.

If you want a handling MPV buy a C-Max. It will cost you about 4 grand more and bore the crap out of you but at least it handles.

I agree about the tyres though, the bridgestones are awful

A fiesta is a small hatch, the Roomster is a much higher car so it won't handle as well pretty much by definition.

Traction control doesn't make a car go round corners. ESP would do a little there but it won't sort out the fundamental difference between the two...

I've driven an Audi A2 which was pretty sorted, but that is a vastly more expensive car and it was very, very light which helped with the body roll situation. Also had ESP

dont have a problem with handling on mine and Ive done alot of miles on country roads @ speed.

Compared to my Octy, which I loved to bits its far faster and handles much better

however I did find in the first 2 weeks that the seat was not holding me very well as it seemed a bit too firm. But its since worn in & feels great
