Roomster review

Featured Replies

Hi

I have just had my Fabia vRS serviced and got to drive a 1.9 TDI Roomster (blue) for 2 days. Here's my thoughts:

Positive:

- Inside there is lots of room and more rear legroom than my Fabia and my wife's Jazz. The boot is also huge.

- The interior was a beige colour and while not to everyone's tastes, it made a welcome relief from the usual unimaginative black/grey.

- The 1.9 TDI has 6000 on the clock but still pulled adequately. Not as much as my vRS but certainly more than enough for the needs of most people (and more than ideal as a 2nd city type car).

- Stereo is decent!

- Trim seems a step up from my Fabia and feel sturdy.

- MPG seems to be in the 50s!

- The car has a full length sunroof which is impressive from the inside as it allows all passengers to enjoy a glorious view of the sky! This might make the car too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter though.

Negative:

- External wise the looks are a bit odd and take some getting used to. I didn't like it and I can see how that would put a lot of people of.

- The car is raised high and there is a huge gap between the wheels and the top of the wheel arches. It looks like a small 4 x 4 only without the power.

- The driver's window has some kind of tapered trim at the back of the window which obscures visibility.

- Visibility as a whole is not great, but removing all the headrests would improve this.

- It seems to have climate control which I don't like. I prefer air-con rather than an air-con system that comes on automatically (there must be a way to switch it off.)

- Rolls a bit too much and the car feels heavy.

Overall, not a bad car. It's ideal for families or as a 2nd car. There is nothing intrinsically poor about the car and I think it's a shame that the weakest part of it is its looks which might put a lot of people off (shame).

Hope this helps.
