Think my exhaust has gone!

Got a Blueflame turbo back system on my 01 Octy Vrs. Recently I thought it was blowing as it sounded raspy from somewhere near the downpipe/CAT area, but it passed the MOT fine last week

But went down to Devon and back in the last 3 days, and when I was nearly home I started noticing a much louder 'rasp' form the exhaust, more so when I lifted off - I hadnt noticed it before on the motorway due to road noise/music.

Car still drives fine, still comes on boost and feels like the power is the same, not in limp-home mode.

Does this sound like a possible exhaust failure? Has anyone else had the downpipe/Sports CAT go on a Blueflame system? Mine has been on for about 2 years now? Need to get it checked out ASAP but working this weekend so might have to wait until Monday :thumbdwn:

Being a Blueflame I'm pretty sure it will be Stainless and therefore shouldn't corrode.

It might be that a weld has cracked or a joint has seperated slightly.

You'll need to get under the car and look for signs of soot and blackening from possible leaks.

Other thing it could be is the baffles come loose in the back box.

I don't think it wil be the baffles, as the noise is definately coming from further towards the front of the car

I'm going to try and get under it tonight or tomorrow if I can gfet it on axle stands, if not it'll be into the garage on Monday

I was lead to believe that it was the downpipes that had the issue?

May be worth looking there

Is that as in a known issue Sarah? I wonder if Blueflame will cover it if it is a known problem - I'm sure I remember seeing that their warranty only covered products that they fitted themselves, but I can't be sure

Just heard back from a garage today - couple of bolts had worked loose on the turbo-downpipe connection, which they've replaced and its now fine!

Thanks for suggestions though guys

A nice simple fix which is good.
