Rear number plate surround.

Featured Replies

First of all hello to everyone,

I have a octavia vrs and i just want to know where the number plate fixes to the rear of the car there are to holes and they have a longish type bolt on the inside of the hatch does that just unscrew because mine as loosened but i think they are seased,

i need to bolt on my plastic surround number plate holders, i'm worried about it in case i do damage, i may have to drill them out as the metal bits on the out side the hatch are rusty.

many thanks btw great site.oh and iv'e tried the search:)

i just used sticky pads for the surround and plate on mine forget about the bolts mine were rusted to hell too

I think you mean the insert. This is rivnutted into the tailgate on production. Is the insert just spinning? Is there metal or platic bolt hodling the plate on?

HELLO, yes it is just spinning now ,i want to bolt the rear number plate surround on like i did on my mk3 golf, i,ve had the surround stuck on with the sticky pads because i struggled to undue them when i bought the car, but last night the surround fell off on my drive, i had 3 sticky pads on it as well:eek: the front ones are screwd on.

I will buy the bolts when i get those rivnuttes out but they did loosen.

can they come out.

They can come out with a bit of heavy handedness. They dont unbolt they are squeezed into the body not unlike a pop rivet. Leaves a hole in the tailgate,

Thanks for the quick reply, i will try to pull or drill them out i'm not taking the risk of sticking them on again,

at least i know not to try and unscrew them now, as i thought not much was happening.

many thanks.
