Warm start problems GLX 1.9D

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

Ive got a 1.9D 1999 Felicia and its got an annoying issue. When its warm and the pre heat light doesnt come on before starting the engine has to be cranked over for a while before it will start, when it does fire a heck of a lot of black smoke comes out of the exhaust. When its cold it starts first time and every time!

Any ideas what might be up with it?

Cheers :)

If you read my fairly recent post and the comments which follow, you can cure this completely for less than

on felicia diesels the temp sensor has to be yellow not gren or blue or you dont get the pre heat.

new temp sensor needed only yellow tho.

Great, thanks for the replies. Ill have a look!

Just as Mr Music and the others advise, the place to start is with the Temperature sender.

The important issue is NOT the colour of the plastic band but the Part Number.

It`s 6UO919501 B. Accept NO substitute if u want trouble free warm starts from a 1.9D.

Also remember that the Skoda Parts folks will tell you its WRONG for the Diesel which may well be correct on paper but the thing works and works well so Insist on that part number !
