Hello and 1998 (R) Felica pickup - does it have a cam

Featured Replies

Hello all - newbie - first post. A couple of questions if I may ...

Just bought myself a 1998 ® Felicia pickup with 72k on the clock. 12 months MOT too.

Does this one have a cam belt that needs attention?

Is there anything else that needs immediate attention?

Kind regards,

Andy

Yes, i have a Cambelt if it is a 1.6 or a 1.9 Diesel.

Sparkplugs change 60.000km

Cambelt = 60.000, 90.000 or 120.000km, depending of the engine

Airfilter = 60.000 or 90.000km

Oil and Oilfilter = 15.000km, but i recommends that you change it every 7500-10.000km, depending on oil quality.

Best regards

... if it is a 1.6 ...

Sorry - should have said. It's a 1.3

Okay, then its this, if i recall corretly:

Sparkplugs = 60.000km

Airfilter = 60.000km(Might be 90.000km)

Oilfilter = 15.000Km, the engine uses 10W40 oil.

It has a chain without a tensioner.

If it is a 1.3 then no cambelt as it has a timing chain.

These do not have statutory change periods but as they have no tensioner they can get very rattly as they stretch. I am yet to hear of one snapping though as they are double link chains so it is a matter of opinion on whether to do it.

I have just had mine changed at a garage and bought the parts myself.

It cost about

Thank you all.

I reckon I'll be dipping in to this forum a lot more. Loads of information.

Thank again for the advice.

I'd change spark plugs more like every 12_000 miles or once a year, whichever comes first.
